Network-Attached Storage

Postby Firestreak » 24.05.2010, 15:05

I have a Netgear Rangemax router, with a usb hard drive plugged into it. This lets me stream audio/video to a couple PS3s. I have been looking for an audio device that could pick up the music files and play them. Will the freecom work for this? This means it has to pick up the music directly from the hard drive, which is setup as a NAS, DNLA device. It's not going through my computer.

Later versions of the firmware are supposed to be able to mount network shares. This thread makes mention of it: http://www.freecomforum.com/viewtopic.php?f=65&t=19474

Search around the forums, there was some discussion last year.

Personally, I tried everthing but could not get it to work, instead I managed to get my networked folder loading via the USB drive functionality. Let me know if you'd like to know how - it may look daunting if you haven't done any *nix before.

Dear Customer,

if the music is streamed by a media server (twonky for example) the MusicPal should be able to play the files.
It works perfectly with the MusicPal and the Dual Drive Network Center here in our office ;)

Kind Regards,
